New Jersey Restylane Before and Afters
Patients who wish to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, enhance the aesthetic contours of their facial features, and achieve fuller more youthful lips may wish to consider a non-surgical cosmetic procedure involving the injectable Restylane. Restylane is a biodegradable product, composed primarily of a dermal filler known as hyaluronic acid, which helps to rejuvenate and replenish the skin’s natural volume and firmness, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and enhance the shape and volume of the lips.
The FDA approved Restylane as a safe and effective cosmetic treatment in 2004. Restylane is injected under the skin to fill in the space between the collagen and elastin fibers within the dermal layers. Injecting Restylane into the dermal layers of the skin restores its natural volume, which tends to decrease with age, sun damage, and more. Also, the highly purified form of hyaluronic acid found in Restylane mimics the effects of natural hyaluronic acid. Because of this biocompatibility, Restylane is a hypoallergenic treatment.

New Jersey Restylane Treatments: Ideal Candidates
Ideal candidates for Restylane injections are patients in good physical and psychological health who have realistic expectations about what the procedure can do for them. However, Restylane treatments may not be appropriate for certain patient populations. Patients with a history of skin disease or other complications, allergies to birds, are currently taking anti-coagulants, or women who are pregnant may face increased risks and should avoid Restylane treatments. Prospective Restylane patients should provide their physician with their full medical history prior to treatment in order to avoid unnecessary complications.
New Jersey Restylane Treatments: The Procedure
Restylane treatments should be administered by a trained and experienced cosmetic surgeon in a hospital, surgical center, or medical office. Because the discomfort associated with this procedure is minor, general anesthesia is not required. The procedure usually takes less than one hour to complete and involves the application of a local anesthetic cream and a series of light injections. The results last approximately six months.
As with any medical procedure, there are risks associated with Restylane treatments. These risks should be discussed with a surgeon prior to treatment.
